Energy Smart Communities Initiative (Low Carbon Model Towns)
The APEC Low Carbon Model Towns (LCMT) project aims to combine energy-efficient buildings, transport and power systems to create communities that affordably reduce energy use and carbon emissions while creating pleasant living conditions. The LCMT project is a part of APEC's Energy Smart Communities Initiative (ESCI). Please visit http://esci-ksp.org/?task=lcmt-low-carbon-model-town for more complete information.
The LCMT project consists of three activities:
a) Development and refinement of the "The Concept of Low-Carbon Town In the APEC Region" by the LCMT Study Group A;
b) A policy review of low carbon development policy of each case town by LCMT Study Group B.
c) A feasibility study of low carbon development for each case town by consultants hired by the APEC Secretariat.
APERC plays the role of organizer and secretariat for LCMT Study Groups A and B. The reports that are the product of these Study Groups are listed here.
